Soil samples for a Tullgren funnel were taken from a depth of 0-5 cm on each of three sampling dates in October of 1970,1971 and 1972. A total of 24 species were obtained, 10 of which were common to the three plots-the control (normal amount fertilizer application), the P (three times of normal amount in phosphate) and the Ca plots (about three times of normal amount in calcium). In each plot, 1-3 species were dominant and their total number constituted a majority of the total population of the oribatid mite sample. Species composition data were analyzed by using the index of diversity, β-index. It was revealed that the species composition of the P plot in 1970 was simpler than that of the control or Ca plot, but in 1972 tended to be more complex. Moreover, the similarity in species composition was examined by using the C_λ-index. It was found that many similrities in species composition were observed in 1970 among the three plots, but that these were less frequent in 1972. The P plot was different from the other two in the following features : the species composition became more complex during the experimental period, the individual number of Collembola was constantly small, and the contents of available phosphorus and exchangeable magnesium were abundant.
