A 54-year-old married woman complained of headache, dizziness and tinitus. A diagnosis of Meniere's syndrome had been made by a family physician. However, the results of routine physical and otological examinations showed no appreciable abnormalities. Further discussion of the marital situation revealed the disturbing influence of a slight affective disorder of her husband, which caused the patient to fail to adjust adequately to the marriage relationship for the past over thirty years and resulted.in gradual appearance of the presenting symptoms. The results of Rorschach test for the couple suggest a fairly good personality organization in her in contrast with that of her husband. For the treatmennt of the psychosomatic disorders of a married it is necessary to take account to the full with a living and dynamic picture of the inter relationship of husband and wife.
