The scale insects occurring in the Ogasawara (Bonin) Islands have been revised on the basis of material collected by the authors in 1969 and those collected by Kuwana in 1905 and Kariya in 1934. In this paper, a total of 51 species are presented, among which those previously recorded from the Islands are settled into 29 species. The host plants and localities are given with some biological or diagnostic notes, and as for a little-known species, Acanthomytilus arii, a redescription in given.Among these scale insects, the species thought to be most important from an econonmic standport are Icerya aegyptiaca, Planococcus citri, Pulvinaria psidii, Parlatoria cinerea, Chrysomphalus dictyospermi, Hemiberlesia lataniae, Lepidosaphes beckii, Pseudaulacaspic cockerelli and others.
