Implantation of the suboesophageal ganglia obtained from pupar of B. mori into isolated abdomens of larvae of L. separata induced cuticular melanization. In particular, ganglia of pupae which were destined to become diapause egg-laying moths caused more intensive melanization than those of pupae which were dentined to become layers of non-diapause eggs. The larval suboesophageal ganglia as well as the brains or the first thoracic ganglia from all stages of B. mori did not induce melanization.
