Host suitability and reproductive compatibility were analyzed among Panonychus citri populations closely occurring on several host plants. Individuals from Citrus unshiu and Ilex crenata var. convexa did not develop on Osmanthus trees, while populations on Osmanthus fragrans var. aurantiacus and Osmanthus fortuni developed well on O. fragrans var. aurantiacus, but their development on C, unshiu varied seasonally. F_1 females from crosses between populations of citrus and Osmanthus were sterile. Therefore, we concluded that P. citri populations on citrus and Osmanthus were reproductively isolated and that there was host range segregation between them.
