In postwar Japan, "Jishukanri" (self-management) was an educational practice which was representative for sutudents'participation in school management. "Jishukanri" was understood by two ways; one the participation in school management, and the other a method of education or "seikatsushido" (guidance). "Jishukanri" has started as the sutudents'participation activities. However, it was soon considered as a method of education or "seikatsushido". This paper describes the process of such replacement by analyzing the discussions of the both sides. In this paper, I attempt to examine the difference of two relations between teachers and students in the both concepts of "jishukanri".
