This paper discusses about the folk tradition in local community studies ("Kyodo kyouiku") in 1930's, by focusing on the teaching of Tsuneichi Miyamoto. Tsuneichi Miyamoto, one of the outstanding folklorists (1907-1981), was a primary school teacher in Osaka in 1930's. It was characteristic that his emphasis of teaching consisted in the reproduction of collective mentality of villagers by taking through record on the folk tradition. This paper reveals the following two points. <1> In Miyamoto's practice, learning was compared to journey ("tabi") in pre-modern society. In other words, learning was to get a viewpoint of dissimulating their own collective mentality, and to assimilate it again. <2> He encouraged children to refine sensitivity of children, by believing what they see and by creating an image for future society based on folk tradition in village. As a result, their learning obtain a possibility of gaining the opposit view to the leading statements such as "agriculture-first" principle ("Nouhon shugi")
