In the present work it was found that amplitude recovery ratios of long latency auditory evoked potentials to paired clicks with 1, 2 or 3 sec intervals within pairs could rise during qigong meditation, indicating that there were some facilitative effects on the cortex. Based on these results and those of the authors' previous studies, it is suggested that qigong meditation may be associated with both inhibitory and facilitative effects on the cerebral cortex. But it is uncertain whether this is anomalous and specific for qigong meditation or merely an ordinary physiological phenomenon. Further study to clarify this point is necessary.
