In the field of education, an important question has been how to reconstruct and integrate a curriculum which is sectionalized by each subject. Some educators have introduced seikatsu, which means "living experiences" or "activities", into the curriculum. There are many theories, practices or movements of seikatsu kyoiku, or life-centered education. The Core-Curriculum, one type of New Education in the early post World War II period, will be discussed and redefined in this paper. The Core-Curriculum is modeled upon a concentric circle, but this model has attracted various misunderstandings and criticisms, probably because the model is too simple. In this paper the Core-Curriculum will be discussed based on "Idealtypus" which was proposed by Max Weber (1864-1920). The Core-Curriculum has a core course in which teachers help students extend and deepen living experiences or activities, and courses in which they can teach necessary knowledge and skills as means or tools. The Core-Curriculum should be an "integrated" curriculum, correlating these two different types of courses. The significance of the Core-Curriculum is the perspective over the whole structure of a curriculum. This suggests that it is important to teach life as the core course and various elements of subjects as the other courses. The question is how to correlate and "connect" these two types of courses. In this paper the Core-Curriculum will be redefined as a 3-D model.
