Our proposal to promote comprehensive learning of electron devices and their integration was selected as an advanced educational project in science and technology by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology in Japan in March, 2003. This project first time introduces the CAD (computer-aided design) packages in the student labs in our department in order to promote comprehensive learning of electron devices and integrated circuits. The CAD packages used to provide students with the practical training consist of simulators of device process and characteristics, hardware-design tools and system-performance simulators. There is an increasing industrial demand for new college graduates with practical training for analog and digital circuit design and system LSI design, and the project is to meet such a demand.
