We report results of a newly planed aftertreatment and care management program for endoscopic discectomy in our hospital Subjects and methods 18 patients who underwent endoscopic discectomy for hermation from January through June in 1999 were included The subjects were divided into two groups, 8 patients who were treated by the program (Group A) and 10 patients were treated by conventional methods (Group B) Duration of admission, duration between the operation and the beginning of the walk, duration between the operation and discharge, duration between the discharge and returning to vocation, and JOA scores were compared in the 2 groups Results No significant difference was found on the duration between the operation and the beginning of the walk, the duration between the discharge and returning to vocation, and JOA scores The duration of admission, and the duration between the operation and the discharge were slightly shorter the group A than the group B Conclusion This aftertreatment and care management program showed better results compared with the conventional methods
