The object of this study is to provide a description of feet and syllable components with regard to their duration. After describing my experimental procedures, results of the study will be shown concerning durations of sentence, feet and syllables, followed by further data obtained through two different groups of differing levels. Two main topics will be discussed after the summary of data in order to develop this study: a)essential factors, which effect English speech rhythm, other than feet and syllables and b)some transfer problems found in English speech rhythm produced by Japanese learners. After adding results for further examination and analyses, the whole project will be summarized.
