The aim of this study is 1) to clarify changes in mothers' moods as the treatment of their children is carried on and 2) to establish the nursing approach for supporting such mothers. Seven mothers whose children have a standard risk of leukemia are enrolled in this study. After discharge, interviews were conducted with the mothers to evaluate the changes in the mothers' moods during period of their children's hospitalization. The factors were scored and evaluated in relative and subjective ways. Results showed that at the beginning of their children's hospitalization mother's moods were highly fragile and greatly influenced by the adverse effects of their child's treatment. After discharge, it was found that most mothers tended to be depressed. In conclusion, results in this study indicated the importance of nursing approaches on mothers as the arrangement of the relationship among patients' mothers and as the support of loneliness which most of such mothers feel during the treatment of their children.小児白血病スタンダードリスク群母親気分
