Current leading theories for the reconstruction of the whole educational system, for exam., Life-long Education, Learning Society, Deschooling Society and so on, are based on the idea of the self-education. But these theories do not fully explain the way to go beyond the gup between individual's free and subjective praxis of self-education and their intention to organize and institutionize it in social range. In this paper, we will search the bridging theory in the history of Free Universities, Japanese famous self-educaion movement in 1920s, especally in the formational process of "the Idea of Free Universities" by Kyoson Tsuchida. In this process, we will find the interaction between young peasants and the intilectual. This mutuality of the thought on self-education must be the starting point for the theory of self-education as inter-subjective activation.
