Drosophila auraria species complex consists 4 closely species. Among these, D. auraria, D. biauraria and D. triauraria are widely distributed in Japan and Korea, but D. quadraria in recoded from only Taiwan. They can be experimentally crossed and produce offspring but interspecific hybird has hardly been found in, nature. The sexual isolation experiments between these 4 species were carried out by using male multiple choice method. The isolation coefficients represented between different species were highly significant (Table 1). The values were 0.917 between B (D. binauraria) and T (D. traiauraria). 0.899 between A (D. auraria) and B (D. biauraria), and 0.875 between A and T. The degresse of sexual isolation were clearly shifted in the tests using D. quadraria as a partner. In either experiment between A and Q, or between T and Q considerable onesided mating preference was recognized. This fact indicates that D. quadraria females can easily accept alien males, particularly of D. auraria and triauraria. The relationships among the 4 species with respect to the sexual isolation were provisionally represented in Fig.2. It is explicable in this comlex that the sexual isolation proper has enough of a role in order to maintain discrete gene poll as apecies.種の起源について考察する場合、異種間の遺伝子交流を妨げている地理的隔離 (geographic isolation) と生殖的隔離 (reproductive isolation) の機構とその程度が重要な問題となる。生殖的隔離機構の一つとして性的隔離 (sexual isolation) があり、2種の間の性的隔離の程度を調べる一般的方法としてSTALKER (1942) が考案した選択交配法とその改良法とがある。・・・
