This article seeks to list out, in Romanized Malay, the articles published in the magazine Qalam. It also gives a brief introduction of the magazine and its founding publisher, Ahmad Lutfi. Ahmad Lutfi, who is also known as Edrus, was a local-born journalist of Arab origin who ventured into journalism in Singapore after the Japanese Occupation. In 1950 Ahmad Lutfi started publishing Qalam, a monthly magazine on Islam and the Muslims written in the Jawi script of Malay. Qalam, was widely read among the Muslims in the Malay world until it ceased publication following the death of Ahmad Lutfi in 1969. The articles in Qalam provide us with invaluable information on the activities and thoughts of the Muslims in the region, including those of the Muslim Brotherhood which was established in Singapore in 1956. It is hoped that this Romanized list of the Jawi articles in Qalam, will help highlight the existence of another important source of historical information on the Malay world in the 1950s and 1960s.
