To Christian scholars acquainted with the works of Vedantic Thinkers in general, Madhva and Ramanuja possibly occupy a position that could well be described as unique, owing to points of semblance that exist between certain of their adopted concepts and those of Christianity. While Madhva's kinship to Christianity is comparatively well-known and demands no further explanation here, in the case of Ramanuja however scholars generally draw attention to his understanding of Prasada and its resemblance to the Christian concept of divine grace, as an example of what might perhaps be described as "mutual or inter-religious influence". While Prasada can scarcely be equated with divine grace owing to the comparative disparity among their related concepts, nonetheless one can by no means deny that even a casual survey of these two systems of thought, do reveal a certain degree of similarity, particularly with regard to some of their basic or fundamental considerations. In the following paragraphs I shall attempt to provide a brief description of certain key concepts in Christian thinking, followed by a rather general reflection upon their counterparts in the thought of Ramanuja. Such an attempt is undertaken not with any desire to compare (since comparisons in general are odious and do little to further the cause of inter-religious understanding), but merely to enable the adherents of these two great systems to arrive at a closer degree of dialogue and mutual harmony.
