In this paper, we first review the literature of comparative management research in the U.S.A. to get a perspective of this discipline, for the purpose of preparing to inquire into the trends in future comparative management research. Then, we discussed on the comparative management research of F.H. Harbison and C.A. Myers from our perspectives. Our approach consists of (1) comparing not reductionistically but holistically, (2) observing the balances and implications of constituent elements which are compared, and (3) recognizing the problem of the cultural measures which exist in the researchers and theories for the background.
