The study of Finsler spaces from the view-point of global connections has its origin in a paper by L. Auslander in 1954 and afterwards was dealt with by T. Otsuki, S. Kashiwabara and M. Matsumoto. Especially M. Matsumoto improved his work several times and recently gave the most general global connection, F-connection after the advice by W. Barthel. In the present paper the author tries to give a formulation of the covariant differentiation by means of the F-connection on considering a certain extension of K. Nomizu's notion of a global linear connection to the F-connection, and to make clear the relations between the covariant derivatives and the torsion forms in use of the above formulation.
