It is proven here that the initial-boundary value problem for the ideal MHD equations for incompressible perfect fluids in bounded domains of R^N (N≧2) or in unbounded domains of R^3 has a solution on a small time interval. The proof is based on the application of the method of successive approximation to the modified equations obtained by operating appropriate projections (in a bounded case) or the rotation (in an unbounded case).
