This report is going to discuss mainly on the test built up of the ultrasonic drawing machine for steel tubes with small diameter, on drawing characteristics of the thick steel tubes with small diameter whose working is fairly difficult, and on the effects of the ultrasonic vibration on the materials. Investigations were made on the effects of ultrasonic vibration obtained when a plug used in plug drawing fabrication of tubes was vibrated at a frequency of about 20kHz and the maximum power of 300W. The plug vibrating system described in the first and the second report was reconstructed and employed in the present investigation. The results obtained in these investigations were as follows. (1) Thick steel tubes with small diameter were drawn by the test-built ultrasonic drawing machine by giving 200 to 300W ultrasonic power. (2) Although decrease of the drawing force was not recognized, seizure, chattering, cut off and damages of the openings decreased, and surface roughness and lifespan of the tools improved. (3) Moreover, compared to the working-method without ultrasonic power supply, if area reduction ratio and drawing speed were raised to about twice as high, tube drawing was possible, and weakness of the materials was not detected.
