The stability of an operational amplifier controls, to a great extent, the stability of systems using it. Since it is the frequency response which determines stability, it is of vital importance to grasp the frequency response of an operational amplifier. Recently there have been many operational amplifies of high gain, but it is technologically very difficult to measure them directly, and the results are not always readily relied upon. This resurch attempts to measure the gain of an amplifier and its phase characteristic by adding operational elements to the amplifier and by applying the method of Nichols chart to the result. Furthermore, by equalizing the time-constant of the input elements, feedbeck element, and the input impedance of an amplifier, the vector locus of Nichols chart will all point at the same direction. If there is a difference in the vector locus, it is possible to find the capacity value to be corrected. This method should be effective when applied to the automatic test system of an operational amplifier.
