Photodecomposition of some pesticides has been investigated and shown to be a possible sink mechanism in free environment. In our cases, the adsorption of the substances on a abundant soil minerals induced a small shift of the wavelength end of the sun's spectrum. Measuring the half lifetimes of 2,4,5-T-derivatives, adsorbed on some typical soil minerals and irradiated by natural sunlight, gives raise to the hope, that those dangerous substances will be decomposed by irradiation in relatively short times. The decomposition products, here, as an example in the photodecomposition of adsorbed DDT, will depend on the nature of the soil minerals. This might be a hint in composing formulae for distribution. Some simple mathematical models are shown from which some predictions might be deduced. Such models are expected to be useful especially in cases where a quick answer to urgent problems in necessary and where a complete laboratory research might be too consuming in time and money.
