A new program named ”cross field” used for charged particle beam tracing, has been developed. Cross field MS is very unique and prospective. For example, electric field scanning covered very wide MS range can be easily achieved at constant acc.voltage and also at constant magnetic field. But it is required that a troidal deflector must be put in a narrow pole plece gap. Therefore, there is a possibility that this limitation of deflector's height will introduce undesirable large ”higher order” abberation terms into cross field focusing property. In this program, beam tracing can be done in ”two differrent mode”, that is, in ”SCTE” (cross field) mode and then in ”TRO12” (cross field) mode. In ”SCTE” cross field, the troidal deflector potential is given in 4th order expansion foumular, while in ”TRO12” cross field troidal deflector field is calculated by ”surface charge method”. Focusing property of cross field can be examined by observing the difference between both mode beam tracing.
