The purpose of this experiment is to investigate the wavelength tunability of the dye laser, in which the dye solution was exited by rapidly repeated pulse of ultraviolet nitrogen laser light. The investigation was conducted by the following two tuning methods; 1) Changing the concentration of the dye solution, and mixing two dye solutions. 2) Using a diffraction grating as one of the laser resonator mirrors. The experimental results of the first tuning method were compared with the previously reported results for the flashlamp pumped dye laser, and approximately the same wavelength shift resulted. The second tuning method was proved to have the following two advantages : 1) Only a single dye solution was required to obtain approximately the same results. 2) The emission bandwidth of the dye laser was narrowed.
