It is observed that the state of grinding wheel surface changes with the increase of stoc■ removal. The grinding operation has been studied rather microscopically, because the grain-tip-state of individual grit has a great influence on the finished surface. However, it is found that, in any grinding condition, the loading and the glazing occu■ on wheel surface certainly. Then, there are some cases where it will be profitable to observe wheel surface from the macroscopical point of view. In this paper, the surface-grinding operation was chosen since it enoubles the grinding force and the finished surface roughness to be easily measured. In the measurement on wheel surface, the fixed area of it was thrown light on and the intensity of reflecte■ light was measured by the electrical equipment with a sintered type cadmium sulfid■ photoconductive cell.
