Up until quite recently, around the world, the mass media has been reporting on the Kosovo conflict in Yugoslavia. We should not forget that at one time there were Austrian intellectuals who were expecting this tragedy to happen, by regarding the collapse and dissolution of Austria-Hungary after the First World War. These intellectuals made every effort to preserve the frame of a new state centered around Austria. Eugen Ehrlich is one of these intellectuals. A certain American jurist called E. Ehrlich "a prophet without honor." Using a variety of materials, but most importantly letters from an ongoing correspondence between Ehrlich and Eugen Huber, a famous professor at the University of Bern in Switzerland, this paper looks into Ehrlich's life and some of his ideas at the time. This paper is composed of four parts as follows : Chapter 1 titled "Peace and Prosperity" discusses his promising activity before World War I, Chapter 2 titled "A Shot in Sarajevo" investigates his activity based on his own personal experience as a refugee from Czernowitz on the eastern front, Chapter 3 titled "Collapse and Dissolution of Austria-Hungary" considers his activity in Switzerland and the last part is my own conclusion with some comments.
