It is told that the office automation of the administrive business won't have so much effect by the report of the Special Investigation Committee on Administrative Reform. In 1981, We didn't have an exclusive computer for the business of the school administration in Numazu college of technology. Then, we developed the salary calculating system in FORTRAN by the use of the mini super computer VAX 11/750 that had been set up for education in this school. This is the report of the experience we gained while using this system for the last six years. Using this system for six years, now I think that COBOL is generally used for the salary calculculating, but FORTRAN is as useful as COBOL. And also I think the change of the person in charge of the salary is as important as the developing system, and the personal change is most desirable in January. The report of the Special Investigation Committee on administrative Reform was very instructive to me.
