Microscopic holes are made in paper by the method of electrical spark discharge in air, but very little is known concering the electrical relations with the size of the hole and the mechanism of hole-making. In this study, the size of the hole is measured how to be changed according to peak discharge current (1p), spark discharge voltage, electrode gap length and supplying energy. From the results, the following facts became clear mainly. (1) Effects of hole-making are impact and current action (Joule heating) of spark dischage. (2) The hole grows larger with repeating of spark discharge at weak impact and with current action at strong impact. (3) The diameter of the hole is in proportion to Ip^<0.3>
