The experiment for the machinability and the tool-life are carried out by using the new type twist-drill which has the specific point angle and the cutting angle, in order to ascertain the difference between the commonly reground twist-drill and the new type one. The cutting edges of the new type twist-drill are ground in the shape of the width of chisel edge of o and the From the experimental results, it is confirmed that in the case of the commonly reground twist-drill the regrinding becomes necessary when the cutting lengtn reaches about 15m, but the new type twist-drill is abbe to continus the drilling operation until the cutting length reaches more them 15m. The tool life of the twist-drill is juded by measuring the thrust lood opplied to the twist-drill.
