• The author's theory of the distributions of deutero-isomers of reactants and products during the reaction between ethene and deuterium has been generalized for the reaction between hydrocarbon and deuterium. The generalized theory gives a solid basis for determining the reaction structure of the reaction, i. e., the set of relative rates and activation energies of the elementary (forward and backward) reactions involved in the reaction. The theory has been applied for the exchange reaction between ethane and deuterium as well as the deuterogenation of ethene with various metal catalysts.
