• Yoshiharu Iwamoto a well-known social reformers of the 1890's advocated modern improvement of woman's situation, including women's education. This paper clarifies the educational significance of his unique view on women's education, which is characterized by his belief on the equality of sexes based on their different nature. His view on human rights and woman's rights are analyzed in their contents and in their rerations through his articles in Jogaku zassi (Women's Magazine).
