The urbanization of the world has brought great changes in virtually every phase of social life. It is difficult, however, to define the city, and educational literature has neglected such changes as community disorganization and individual alienation effected by urbanism. As a result, educational system still presupposes a kind of community and the process of education/learning has been reduced to assimilation or standardization. But learning activities by urban residents should connect themselves with entirely different others, which may create the basis for encounters between various people. This article tries to explore complicated phenomena of urban space and to define education/learning as dynamic and creative process. Various lines of discource weaving this article represent in themselves various aspects of learning in urban space.
