In the abrasive machined works the residual abrasives on a surface layer of work material are becoming serious problems. Regarding the abrasive wear, in this paper, the two kinds abrasive, Aluminium oxide and Silicon carbide are blasted to the surfaces, and these surfaces are treated by three types of cleaning methods, that is, ultrasonic cleaning, water jet cleaning and air blast cleaning, respectively. It is found that the cleaning effects are varied by the difference of work materials : aluminium (Al100), brass (C2801P) and soft mild steel (SPCC) plates, and by the variety blasting abrasives. The following results are obtained; (1) In the combinations of the work materials and the blasting abrasives, the more difficult to remain the blasted abrasives, the material which remains little abrasives in theblasting process has a good effect in cleaning process also. (2) As to the cleaning time, the falling of abrasives from the work surface are saturated at about 20 seconds in all of the cleaning methods used. (3) In the tested abrasives, the volume of fallen residual abrasives by ultrasonic cleaning is twice as compared with water blast cleaning, and thet by water blast cleaning is twice as compared with air blast cleaning.
