In order to make clear the relationship between adrenal cortex and medulla, the adrenal levels of corticosterone, ascorbic acid and catecholamine were estimated after the injections of progesterone, corticosterone, ACTH or ascorbic acid onto the normal untreated rats. And the following results were obtained. 1. No remarkable differences were observed between the lowering effects of ACTH, progesterone, corticosterone and control solutions on the adrenal catecholamine level, but the recovering from the lowering was prompt in the animals injected with corticosterone. 2. The ascorbic acid levels were not affected so much in the case of progesterone or corticosterone treatments as by ACTH injection. 3. The content of corticosterone was increased by progesterone, ascorbic acid or ACTH but there were some differences of the appearance or the duration in their effects.
