Murasaki Shikibu, who had already been famous as the author of 'GENJIMONOGATARI' served the Empress Shoshi in the Imperial Court. This was a significant turning point in her life. It is thought that this experience elevated her ways of thinking and feelings about her life. The purpose of this thesis is to clarify this change by using as clues 'MURASAKISIKBU-NIKKI', the diary she was keeping while serving the Empress, and 'MURASAKISIKBU-SHU', the collection of her poems in which she expressed how she felt about her daily lives. It is hoped that my work will help clarify the whole picture of the life of Murasaki Shikibu.
