High speed adiabatic compressor and relativistic electron beam source are prepared to study the electron ring accelerator performances and the stability of the large current electron ring. Some experimental physics problems which were met during construction are discussed. In the compression of the electron ring, a strong decay of electron ring current is observed due to the negative mass instability. The characteristics of the instability are well analysed by the pillbox model with reqards to the effects of beam loading and beam self-fields.
