Effective Application of Parallel Concatenated Code (Turbo-Code) in the Co-channel Interfering Mobile Radio Channel

In this report we propose an effective system combining a cochannel canceling scheme [1] with Turbo-Codes. Turbo-Code needs the non-correlative Gaussian channel to be decoded effectively [2] and thus, how to realize it in the fast muli-path Rayleigh fading environment is one of the challenging subjects of Turbo-code application into the mobile radio channel. Co-channel interference is another subject to overcome for more efficient use of the radio frequency. An adaptive MLSE co-channel canceling scheme is applied to reduce effects of co-channel interference and fading, respectively, in this report. The proposed system estimates the desired signal and the interfering signals separately. Accordingly, the input of Turbo decoder is consisted with only the estimated desired signal at the MLSE, which is soft value. The proposed system shows much improved performance compared to the system with only MLSE channel estimation in expense of little complexity. A burst transmission formal is employed in this report.
