In broadband network, it is expected to handle high resolution images, video and multimedia traffic in addition to computer data and voice information with given or required quality of service (QoS). The analysis and design of these networks are more complicate rather than existing networks. In order to simplify its analysis and design, various types of traffic models are used, especially Poisson model is more common, but this model may not always provide accurate design results. In this paper, we adopt two models as relative simple one, stationary bit rate distribution model and fluid flow model, and study the performance introducing the approximation method based on statistical process and required QoS such as cell loss probability. It makes clear that both methods have complementary results each other from the stand points of access link utilization, number of connections and burst period of the sources.
