Our aim is the development of a navigation system which supports the independent activities of the visually impaired. In this paper, we measured the absolute coordinate of the subject from GPS & DGPS. And tryed to grasp relative movement of the subject from a pedometer, a terrestrial magnetism sensor and map matching method. From the experiments, the following characteristics become clear. 1. The mean value of GPS error is about 40 [m]. However, by using DGPS technic, this error is reduced to about 10 [m]. We think that this value of error is allowable for human navigation. 2. In case of using information from a pedometer, a terrestrial magnetism sensor and the map matching method, the position of the subject was estimated correctly.
