In the treatment of high-level waste discharged from nuclear fuel reprocessing plant, the trans uranium elements (TRU) are most problematic because of their long life and radioactive hazard. Many methods are studied for an incineration of TRU elements. In this paper, a study is made on the feasibility of the following method. The TRU are loaded in the blanket of a fusion reactor and are incinerated through fission reaction or nuclear transmutation, utilizing abundant neutron in a fusion reactor. To study the process, it is necessary to calculate of the above-mentioned nuclear reaction of TRU, that is, the burn-up calculation of TRU. The study was made on the modeling of Tokamak type fusion reactor, and the calculation of neutron fluxes and energy spectra in the fusion blanket and the group constant for the burn-up calculation. The study was then made on the feasibility of incineration of TRU loaded in the fusion blanket by using one-group burn-up calculation. After irradiation of TRU, TRU discharged from the fusion blanket shoud be cooled until their radioactive hazard becomes less than that of natural uranium. We compared the length of cooling period of fast neutron blanket case with that of thermal neutron blanket case, where neutrons are moderated by graphite. And we compared the decay behavior of irradiated TRU by the neutron flux of 1.0×10^<15>n/cm^2・s with that of non-irradiated TRU. The result shows that thermal neutron blanket is more effective than the fast neutron blanket.
