• The fluorescent properties of ω-substituted 2-alkanoylthiophene derivatives in solid state were investigated. It was found that sulfur containing group at ω-position of side chain in 2-acylthiophene derivatives remarkably improved the fluorescent intensity. Especially, 2-(4-benzoylthiobutanoyl) thiophene derivatives showed strong fluorescence in solid state. Further, it was found that 2-cyclopropylcarbonylthiophene derivatives showed unexpected high fluorescent intensity in solid state.
