Density Measurements of a Free Jet by a Laser Differential Interferometer

In this paper a laser differential interferometer using Wollaston prisms was applied to the density measurements of an argon free jet and the radial density distributions at ten positions from an orifice were determined by using an Abel inversion under the assumption of an axisymmetric flow. From the measurements it was concluded that this method is effective to spatially resolve the density distributions of supersonic gas flows.
