• A survey of the operational experience in the United States and Canada of equipment proposed to be used in the CIT vacuum system design is proposed. Information from users of magnetic bearing turbomolecular pumps, diaphragm pumps and scroll pumps is presented. Length of time of pump installation, operational hours, number of on/off cycles, reliability and operational difficulties are presented. Information on the operational experiences with this type of pumping equipment in Japan is requested from workshop delegates.
