By increasing thicknesses of multi-aperture electrodes to extract volume produced H^-, D^- ions from the sheet plasma, electron currents accelerated together with H^-, D^- ions, are reduced to around 10% of the H^-, D^- ion current with a current density of 20∿30mA/cm^2 over a large area. Accordingly, a total heat load of extraction electrodes is also reduced effectively : a power density of about 100W/cm^2 has been obtained for a H^- ion current of 190mA from an area of 13cm^2 with 6mmφ×25 apertures (54% transperency).
