• Ornamentation of the testa of 25 taxa in the genera Hylotelephium, Aizopsis, Rhodiola, Orostachys and Meterostachys (Crassulaceae) found in Eastern Asia is studied by SEM. The seed coats of these species can be grouped into four types according to their combined characteristics of cell shape, relief of cell boundaries, the morphology of anticlinal cell wall, and the curvature of outer periclinal wall of exotesta. Following types are recognised : longitudinally costate, reticulate, colliculate and multipapillate.
