• The genera of the Hypocreaceae are delimited. A historical background on the taxonomy of Chinese Hypocreaceae is briefly reviewed. Hypocrea pezizoides BERK. et BR. from Yunnan Province, China, is described, and its taxonomical position is discussed. The yunnan strains of H. pezizoides produced very pale green conidia while the conidia of all cultured Japanese strains appeared to be colorless. Based on the green color of conidia and textura epidermoidea-type hyphal tissue of the surface layer of stroma of the Yunnan collection, this species is transferred from section Homalocrea, subsection Pulvinatae to section Hypocrea, subsection Hypocrea in the genus Hypocrea.
