The responses of the circumesophageal interneurons to step mechanical stimuli applied to a single hair on the crayfish antenna were recorded extracellularly. The P.S.T. histogram analysis revealed that the interneurons discharged at a low frequency rate, and they showed the directional sensitivity with a more integrated manner than that of the primary neuron. The latency between the stimulus onset and the maximum excitatory response was estimated to be one of the important factors for the sensory information processing.
