• Normally, network-style infrastructure is built up slowly over time. The shapes that networks form are thoughtto be related to the performance of networks during this process. Using reduced travel time as an evaluationcriterion, this study examines road and rail transportation networks to determine the differences in growth patternsthat are caused by various factors, including network speed, urban population distribution, and network shape.Key words: Transportation Network, Growth, Speed, Performance
