WindowActive is an interactive house window that allows people to see the exterior views on demand at home. The WindowActive interface displays the scene on the window surface interactively according to user's eye-gaze direction and movement of a casement window. It uses a camera to track user's head and proximity sensors to track the window's sliding locations. Unlike the real world window, this system enables users to choose and interact with the scenes on the window surface. This paper presents the motivation, system architecture, and a current prototype of WindowActive installed in the ActiveHome kitchen.
